Default Remington extractor question (riveted style) - need a measurement

I recently picked up a Remington action with the extractor missing. (It is the riveted style.)
I ordered a replacment, but when it arrived the rivet seems awful small (diameter, not length) compared to the hole in the bolt rim. I am getting the sick feeling that whoever removed the last one opened the hole to drill it out.

Can anyone tell me the proper/original diameter the hole should be? (.308 bolt face if it matters)

Thanks in advance for the help.

Drill size is #55 so it would be .052 inch. I think the rivets are .004 thousandths smaller. After a couple extractors have been installed I have seen them up to #53 or .059. Its not a problem as long as a slight taper still exists on the top of the hole for the rivet to hold. I have re-cut these tapers with a cone shaped burr and a pin vise. Some guys do try to install rivets without a proper anvil or drill them out over sized and it can screw them up. If they get to bad you can solder a sleeve in and install a Sako extractor. I'm not a fan of it, but I will do anything for money. A used bolt is generally cheaper.

Thank you Speerchucker. Its bad - the drill that fits it measures 0.078". So that sucks. Anyway of saving it without going the Sako style? There is still some chamfer on the outside showing, but damn little.

Well I have reclaimed them, but its more than a new bolt. Remove the ejector and spring. Put a piece of carbon or copper on the inside under the hole to block it and stop weld flow. Put the dividing head in the mill and put a spud in the back of the bolt and lock that in the dividing head. Run a center on the firing pin hole and locate the center of the existing rivet hole with a center finder. Quickly fill the old hole with the TIG while the bolt is set up in the machine. You can pack the lugs with wet toilet paper if you are chicken or slow. Remove the center finder and instal a #1 center drill and re-drill it. (measure your center drill to be certain, the Chinese ones can be odd sizes)The #1 center drill should be #55 on the drill portion. Lightly touch the 60 degree portion of the center drill to the top to give you the countersink for the rivet.

ADD NOTE: I forgot to mention the reason for the dividing head is obviously not just to hold the bolt. After welding and drilling install a small carbide endmill and use the dividing head to rotate the bolt and carefully cut off any excess weld. Use very light cuts or the center will oversize the firing pin hole. You can use a cheater center in the bolt face to protect the firing pin hole but I just use a rotating dead center now. I have never had a problem but I'm carefull.
