Drawbar force on an early 90's VF-3?

I replaced the belleville washers on our drawbar, it's not the keeper style, it's the 5/8" nut style which is adjustable. Our handy new Maritool force gage says 750. I've got a service manual that says VF machines should be 1750-2100 but I'm pretty sure that's for newer machines.

Thanks

750 is to low. When replacing bellville's you must note the count and orientation.
Some go ()()()()()( others ((()))((()))
Machine age has nothing to do with it, its a 40 taper standard.
Maybe the new gauge is off, try another machine and see.

I have a 1994 VF2 with the adjustable draw bar like yours. It has 77 washers measuring 1.234 od .643 id .089 thickness .111 free height. I replaced them with washers from mcmaster and now get 950 lbs of force. I too was concerned because it was lower than the chart shows on haas website. So i contacted my hfo. They pulled up the old spec for these machines and stated for my draw bar I should see between 880 and 1100 lbs. So it sounds like you may need to tighten the 5/8 nut more.

That's great, thanks for the information. We tightened the nut a couple turns last week, it's at 1000 now we decided to leave it there.

We also used the McMaster washers based on a thread I found here.
