Boss bought out a machine shop.
I got around to organizing the tool room a bit ago. Stuffed in one of the drawers was a Renishaw Probe.
Best I can tell it is all there minus dead batteries.

I know jack shit about probes.

I have an 1993 HAAS VF2 mill and as far as I know it has no probe software/hardware? on it.

Can the probe I found be used on this mill or does the mill have to support it in some way?

If not I think we will ebay or trade it for tooling I do need.

You will need additional hardware and software to use the probe, and it's use is not limited to a Haas.
You can source the additional parts needed on eBay or if you don't want the hassle, just sell it. You might put some batteries in it and verify that it powers on properly. When installing new batteries, the probe will go through a series of light flashes and will end with 4 or 5 green flashes if everything checks good with it's internal tests.
