The turret on my 97 HL-4 lathe is "sticky" after brief periods of inactivity. What I mean is as the air cylinder pushes cam, and the turret moves forward out of the "locked" position is has a hesitation at the end of its stroke. The hesitation is only the last .01-.03 of its .188" total movement.

Could there be some sort of "junk" in ther preventing movement? Ie. metal shavings etc

Thanks,

Doug.

It looks as though it *could be* the Cam plates that move the turret forward.

Anybody ever taken the turret off of a HL series lathe?

What might I be in for? (big long job with exploding parts, or easy smeashy)

Thanks,

Doug.

Check Mac valve that operates that cylinder .Just bypass that valve, by connecting air line to the cylinder and you will see if it moves faster.New valve 90 bucks from Haas distributor.
Hope it helps.
