Haas TL 1 Threading

Running a Haas TL1 and the thread pullout doesn't work it just stops in z and makes a full cut around the part instead of a nice lead out, is this common?
 
I agree that M23 needs to be an active code, M24 disables the lead out. Also, check the values in settings 95 and 96. An example of acceptable setting values are .6 and 45 respectively.
 
Two questions on this subject:

Would a value of 60 in setting 96 give a better result giving a progressive runout of the thread? (for a 60 degree thread form)

Is the chamfer added to the programmed thread length or is it all contained within it? Important if you are threading right up to a shoulder.

Just thought of another. The manual says M23 is the default on power up or reset. Our machine seems to default to M24. Is there a parameter you can set for the default?
