Yesterday was the delivery of a brand spankin new Haas TM2P cnc toolroom mill. I've wanted a cnc mill since I got into machining over 20 years ago. Today is my birthday so I can pretty much say I got a cnc mill for my birthday

One year ago yesterday(8/16/12) I was recieving my first chemo infusion treatment to help kill the cancer I have/had. I completed that and am now on a chemo drug for one year. Will be done in December. I came as close to dying last year as one could. I should be dead. All the doctors that saw the brain swelling I had from the brain tumor cause from my lung cancer said I SHOULD not be alive.

Literally 1% or 2% of people with the amount of brain swelling I had survive. I also survived 7 1/2 hours brain surgery, had 1/3 of my right lung removed in a 7 hour surgery, and my 3 hour lymph node surgery was negative for spreading. I'm surgically free of cancer but will have to be checked for years to come. But, I've basically kicked cancers ass. What a recovery from one year ago.

Congratulations on beating cancer. My mother was diagnosed a few weeks ago and we are all letting it sink in. Some times it takes a real eye opener like that to make you realize life is too damn short to be not having fun and doing what you want. I hope you make lots of money or fun with your new mill, either one you should have a blast.

Congratulations on the cancer recovery and the new machine!

Something tells me that you learned not to put off things that you want to do! Now justify the decision to buy it by making a few bucks with it. :)

Lost a good friend to cancer three weeks ago tomorrow. I will miss him.

Best of luck to you-------Mike

congrats. nothing makes you realize life is worth living like staring down death. have some fun making chips on a brand new machine.

Those who fight may lose. Those who don't fight already have lost!

Keep on fighting. That mill is a wonderful motivator. Not for all the people, but for some an even greater one.

Nick

Wow congrats! I remember when I was in business and I bought my first new mill. It was like owning a new pair of shoes for a grade school kid. Couldn't stop looking at the jewel like lights and the cool paint job and the best I could describe it was like being at a casino with all the lights and sounds and winning the jackpot but with nobody around. Very cool feelings! Machine looks great! Good luck a godspeed to a full recovery and long life.

Thanks a bunch guys. All the kind words are very much appreciated. I have to work next week, then I have 10 days off, so I'll be playing with this a lot here real soon. Can't wait to teach my boy too!

Congrats of beating the big C.

Now back to to some real fun ..
Did you attend the Haastec last March in Oxnard? I went 3 of the 4 days!
What all did you get with it?

Hey, don't be afraid to ask questions here to speed up the learning process. Have fun.

I absolutely love hearing about those who have fought Cancer and came out the other side!!!
Sorry for what you and your family had to endure. Thank you for sharing...

Enjoy the new machine...21 years is a long time to wait!
But, the good things in life do not always come easily...or quickly.
My apologizes...look who is preaching to the choir.

Best of luck to you, your family and enjoy that new machine, looks like a beauty!

Gotta love the smell of fresh Cosmoline in the morning....

That is an incredible and inspiring story! I lost my father last year to cancer. It's some awful shit to have to go through. You beat the odds and now you've got a wonderful reward! From the pics looks like it was a tight fit!

Best to you!

We upgraded to a 20 tool tool changer, rigid tapping, hi-pressure coolant pump, probe, and...?...?...? I feel like there was more but I just can't remember right at the moment. Hay I had a tumor on the memory side of my brain, what can I say, I can't remember everything hahaha!

People you don't know will look at you kinda wierd when you make jokes about brain surgery, tumors and almost dying. It's kind of funny. I lived it and survived it, I GET TO make jokes about as far as I'm concerned. I totally understand there are those that have lost loved ones so I know not to joke when it's inappropirate. It's one way for me to cope with it. It still sends fear through me to think about this horid crap coming back and possible having to do this all over again. It jaw drops those that realize how serious it was for me and how close I came to dying. Just about everyday different people see me and they all just says, "Oh my god, I can't believe what you went through. HOW on earth did you survive!!?? You're a walking mirical. It's funny that I have no regrets about it. It happened, I survived, moving on with life. Only bummer part is what, if anything it's going to keep my physically from doing. I'm mainly worried I won't be able to ride a dirt bike with my son again. I could probably putt around but I want to rip it up. I raced motocross as a teenager for years, and I could still get after it on a dirt bike right up till before all this happened last year. Motocross was the only sport I was ever really good at. So it's going to piss me off and break my heart if I just can't ride anymore.

Congrats of beating the big C.

Both! Medical bills are BRUTAL. Almost lost my house already. Had to take out a loan just to save it. Credit has been kicked in the teeth over this. Bank of America totally screwed us. WORST bank in the bussiness. Tried to get a loan mod and we contacted them BEFORE I went into surgery to let them know we were going to be having financial issues. We were still not late on one single payment. They strung us along so bad, they were trying to make us be soooo late by a bunch of red tape and BS tactics so they would make us sooo late, then they could take our house. I can't tell you home many repossess letter we got. Dozens. I finally got fed up, took out a 2nd 401K loan and paid in full to catch up. Then we got letter offering to help in any way they could. FU B of A!!! As soon as I can, I'm going to re-fi and get out from under that Satan company.

Congratulations, is it just a toy or for business?

Reading this brought chills, and damn near a tear. I CAN relate bud! I was in a serious bike accident and suffered severe and permanent damage to my right leg. Just like you, I used to rip it up on a bike. I was a fast B, avg. A rider back in the late 90's. I absolutely loved riding more than anything. Now my leg is seriously disfigured (it really is totally screwed up bad LOL), and I am just a shadow of the rider I used to be. BUT! I do still ride. Stay tough man!
YEA, like I need to tell you that! You freakin' beat brain cancer. That's pretty freakin' tough!
Just wanted to say from one moto-head to another: Congrats! and thanks for the inspiring story!!!!

Thank you. And very sorry to hear about your leg. Thats horrible. I wish there was something I could say that made a difference. I'll attempt to ride when I think I'm ready. It will be an easy putt ride for sure, but I'll bet it will feel great just riding and having the wind in my face. Really just want to ride with my boy more then anything. It will happen someday.
