Newbie.. TM-1 and IPS Work Setup page..
All,
I started a new job and in the Model Shop is an older TM-1. It has IPS and a Renishaw Probing System. I don't claim to be a machinist, but can get my way around a manual mill and lathe. There isn't anybody here that can run the TM-1. It was originally installed and programmed to run one part and is now not needed. I've been poking around it a bit. I read the IPS overview and have gone to the Work Setup page and guess I just ssumed that the Renishaw would have turned on during this page. I talked to a tech and wrote a line of code and verified that I could indeed turn it on and off and that it's functional when on. Is it supposed to turn on in the Work and Tool Setup pages? Is there an M code to turn on the Tool Offset Sensor, just as there was to turn the spindle probe on/off?
Thanks guys...

Replaced the batteries. Probe is indeed functional, just not when I expect it would be...

Ours only comes to life when you tell it to probe something. Until you program or IPS and then hit cycle start you would never know the probe had power.
