I started noticing that my probing wasn't working right, as in off by .002-.010, so after a half a day of messing with it, it appears that it was some very small chips inside in the rubber folds where the probe meets the body.

I have a hard time understanding why this is the case though, these weren't big enough that I can see them interfering with the mechanism. I'd say they were .002 - .005 x .050 long. Any thoughts why this could be so?

Guess I spoke too soon. I think now perhaps it is related to turning off the display.

On the old machines, turning off the display speeds up probing by about 2. However, this is appearing to be a factor in this somehow.

Probably only the programmer knows why, but it appears that adding a delay in O09726 fixes this. I suspect the skip signal position doesn't get fully updated or something, its not clear to me.

And to cap this off, even that isn't perfect. With normal use, it repeats within a couple tenths. With the screen off it repeats within a thousandth or so, noticeably less. So it's a wasted day here..
