urgent: SL40 lubrication problem

Hi All,

Trying to chase down a problem with the lube system on an SL40 (dry z screw!)

It appears to have pump pressure according to diags but I have no information about the electrical system driving the pump so I cannot ATM force the pump to operate.

Also. What function does the second air regulator have? (The one that hides behind the main reg on the left of the panel.). This reg appears to be turned off (i.e. is is set to very low pressure if any)

Bill

You can actuate the pump manually by pulling the aluminum handle on the pump.
The second air regulator is for spindle lubrication, sometimes there is a label next to it that states what pressure it should be set.

Thanks :-)

Haas must use a standard lube panel , odd for a company that seems to save money wherever possible. I checked a number of our other machines ,all have the regulator turned off.

I think the near-impossible-to-get-at metering valve (between the two front ball guides !) had blocked (took it apart and cleaned it) .

I managed to free up the ballscrew, by connecting the bijur pump directly to the nut (borrow the pipe that feeds the z axis from the xaxis manifiold) .

The lathe working now but will need a new ball screw at some point.

Thanks for replying.

Bill
