Ball Screw Help

I have a ball screw set that was sent out for rebuilding, this is an old Anilam CNC conversion on a vertical mill. The X axis screw had an extension on it, this has gone missing. I need to machine a new one now. This extension goes on the end with a single bearing, not on the end with the precision dual bearings. My question is... how accurate does the shoulder have to be, do I even need a shoulder, is this bearing supposed to take side loads? My first thought is that on this end, all the bearing does is support the screw, and doesn't need a shoulder. I'm not a expert on such matters, and your help, and advice would be appreciated.

Normally, that bearing is just to keep the screw from whipping around. It does not take side loads. A good sliding fit would probably be fine.
