Dear all,

I´m looking for info for an older manual Mazak 18"x60 lathe, even a complete manual... :)

No.1 right now is I´m wondering what is the taper in the spindle normally? The bore is 80mm / 3 1/8"? It has D1-8. I´d take a wild guess at Metric 80 cone??

As you may have figured out it´s not in my possesion, yet.

Not sure to post it here or in the General section but I know for a fact the are many lathe specialist in here. And if things go well I´ll be happy to share it with you in the future, then it will fit very nicely under this Machine reconditioning section...

Here is a link to a similar lathe on ebay, in a Very different condition than the one I´m eyeing...

Seems to been a popular concept but not much info to find, easily, online. Anyway i got hold of some basic data sheet from the local Mazak dealer who was very professional and service minded. Still it didnt reveal the actual taper in the spindle. Only that the spindle adapter has an mt6 inside.. well, guess it'll be surprise surprise :)
Dont know how to upload pdf but if there's interest for the few pages just drop me a pm.

I have the same lathe and I ordered a manual from Lathes + Machine Tool Archive I don't remember the cost but it is on their website. It is a very limited operators manual, but has a lot of parts breakdown. I bought it for the wiring schematics that are suppose to be in it. They are not but the other info is pretty good.
Good Luck with your project.

Last week picked up a Mazak Hercules Ajax 18" Lathe. Was wondering if anybody found a source for the manuals? The UK website no longer list manual for this machine that I can see.
Freddies Toys where in WI are you? I am in MPLS. Care if I pay a print shop to make copy?
Can anybody tell me what oil is recommended for the head stock or anyplace else oil goes in this lathe?
Looking for a compound slide hand crank.

This image is from a later model machine, just branded as Mazak, not the earlier Ajax Hercules. I suspect its good enough.

I use Universal Tractor Transmission Oil in the headstock of my Mazak Ajax Hercules 16X60.
Having done so for over 20 years with no issues.
At times, I use the same oil to top off the apron reservoir to replace the oil that gets pumped on to the ways.

I am sorry that I didn't see your post, if you still are looking for the manual You are welcome to copy it. I live over by Green Bay.

Do you still have your Mazak Hercules Ajax 18x60 lathe? I recently purchased one and am surprised at the lack of information out there for such a well made lathe. I am wondering what information you've discovered in your search.

I also picked up a Mazak 18x60 and have the manual along with wiring diagram. If anyone is in need I can make a quality copy of the manual for the actual cost to reproduce it and shipping. The electric diagram is an old blueprint type, not sure if I can get that copied due to the size.

I am trying to build a Mazak Hercules Ajax community on FB to support other Mazak manual lathe owners. These are good machines but little is known about them. I would love to get the word out so if you're interested check out the page and join, Mazak Hercules Ajax Manual Lathe

Hi, I am purchasing a Mazak 18 x 80... now scouring for documentation... I'm not even sure of the year, couldn't find an info plate. Does this lathe look like similar vintage to yours? If so, do you by chance have a digital copy of the manual/prints? Also, would be happy to pay for a reproduction. Thanks!
