Hello all,
I am working on refurbishing a 1922 Rivett 608 lathe. I have gone through the head stock and cleaned, polished and repaired as necessary. I am now working in the carriage. Many of the gears for the power feed have worn bores. I would like to bore and sleeve then match the sleeve ID to to the shaft OD. I am trying to figure the best sleeve material. the gears are all unhardened steel as well as the shafts. There are a few places that the gear is integral to the shaft and runs in the cast iron carriage apron. I have a good amount of 12L14 steel and I also have 544- phosphor bronze, upon recommendations I can get a different material. Everything is relatively low speed and will be lubricated well.
Thank you for your help,
Jason
