Replace lathe cross screw... Source of Screw?

I have the Mazak Ajax Hercules (love that name) lathe stripped of it's cross slide.
The wear in the middle of the feed screw is ahh, errr,, disruptive, and not conducive of good work.

The screw is .710 OD with the customary .200 per rev. (5 pitch acme LH)

Any suggestions of vendors for a source for precision lead screw stock?

Spinning out the ends will be easy.

Barnes lead screw in Michigan used to do acme stuff in addition to ballscrews. If you want to buy a precision blank I'd start there.

Barnes looks like a good outfit.
The web page on screws is all about "custom", and "request a quote". I might do that, but
I was hoping to find something sold by the foot and cut off where needed. ;-)

Please tell us how/if they quote. I called around looking for 7/8-4LH Acme for my Monarch cross slide screw and everyone just laughed. High helix acme was not in their playbook, I guess.

It looks like MSC handles the NOOK line which offers 3/4-5 LH in 4100 series material along with bronze nuts of one sort or another.

Rolled stock with precision quoted at 3 tenths per inch. (or 3 thou per foot depending on which literature you read)
Close enough for the gals I go with, and WAY better than that worn pig's tail that is fitted at present ;-)

Cost around $100 for a 3foot length with a nut. Some user assembly required!

I'm waiting for a response to my enquiry to Barnes. I'll give Miller a call.
