Neighbor has rollback truck and delivery may be arranged for a fee.
Good Selection of collets (B&S Hardinge #21) with machine

An honest-to-God pegboard lathe in operating condition? With respect to current technology that thing is more antique than any micrometer Rivett608 has ever shown.

On this sort of machine, I have devised the following formula. V=SV minus R minus H minus T

V=Value
SV=Scrap value
R= Rigging to load
H= Hauling cost
T= your time

Unfortunately "V" will most likely be a rather large negative number.

eh you've got a point

sorry didnt mean to rock the boat
It's ok...put the ad back up...at least it's a production type machine...maybe, just maybe there will come along some strange person still using one just like it that will want it for parts and upset my formula ! :)

ok ill put it back up

with a price drop to a rock bottom heavy metal price...

$666 get it the hell out of here lol :eek::willy_nilly::eek:

on the plus side in its defense....

the old man i got it from claimed he was turning out 10,000
small air fitting parts a week with it

i had ideas at one point of removing all hydraulic stuff except for collet closer
and retrofitting with motors/screws computer etc :)
but i really need to move and i will not have room for it
along with my other ancient pieces of crap

Nah, leave it as is... future owner will have a blast programming via the peg holes :leaving:

Sounds like fun, but I've got a few screw machine cams to make first.....

Just last Sunday, I was placing/moving the trip dog's on my 1ab W&s auto, to run
a small stainless fitting job.

I ressemble that remark.... I am the "Electric Amish"....

I've got a couple of questions since I'm a welder and not a machinist
First, what is a woodpecker feed?
Second, what voltage is the machine?
Third, do you have a barfeeder for the machine?

Thanks

the woodpecker is an automatic drilling feed and retract
sort of deal to clear drill chips

220 3 phase

yes barfeed tube is about 10 feet or so and has its outboard pedestal

dont let all these know it alls lead you astray ,fire it up i have 3of these and had emi mec since the 70's ,and doller for dollar there great . we cut tubing ,as many as 15000 in 8 hr ,at .10 ea. .on a 2000.00 machine .put that up to a 100000.tube machine ,see who makes the profit, and there used all over the world . and there fast easy to set up .and unless you are holding less than .oo1 no problem .

This thread was pretty well retired I think (2011), but since someone else posted, I thought I would as well.

I have a little AutoTurn 2E myself, and its a handy machine. It's also fun to just trace the control circuits, from the electric control, to the air over hydraulic slide/turret drive, to the microswitch sensors. Some of the circuits, such as the pressure sensor for the bar feeder is really clever, yet cheap to repair, and probably cheap to make.

They aren't super fast, but for small-frys such as myself, they are cheap to buy, cheap to operate, and can make some useful parts. I also rather enjoy the kitsch of the peg board control. It's CLEARLY not for everyone, and obviously not for someone who can afford a more efficient screw machine or cnc machine of some kind, but they aren't useless, and they can perform a lot of operations in a small space quick enough for some of us.
