The oldest lathe in our shop is a model CCB. We got it out of a lumber mills machine shop in the pacific north west years ago, they got it from the Navy. near as we can tell we are the 3rd owner. she's in great shape for a 70+ year old lathe.
When we got it years ago we pulled the gear box top cover and flushed the box.
Checked everything in the gear train it was in excellent condition. changed the drive belts adjusted the spindle bearing preload and changed one bushing, that's it.
A complete cleaning and paint job a chuck change out and she runs like new.
These Monarch's are great. Built back in the day that a machine purchase could actually go from one generation to another......
