This is the cure for the Chinese lathe.
The lathe is in mint mechanical condition. It was only in service for 1-2 years at a local middle school. It was built in 1980 as a Clausing 5938 12" x 36" and can swing up to 12.75"; and has a 1.375" through spindle hole. It is not a varaible speed unit, but has the factory belt changing system that gives ten speeds and gets rid on the reeves drive spindle problems, I can include a VFD to change from single phase to three phase and give true variable speed with max torque adjustable on the belts.
It is in original paint and all way surfaces, screws, gears, spindle registers etc. are mint (crisp). It has original paint and has not been used for 30 plus years and is dirty. No rust; heated storage until last week (lost my storage hence the sale) always coated in LPS3 (6 coats now). Paint is chipping off of the chip tray (I don't know why).
It has all factory accessories and they are new or near new. The three jaw 6" Buck chuck is new in box with backplate and all jaws (L00). Taper attachment is virgin. 8" Four jaw Burnerd as new, 12" Face plate, Dog driver plate, Collet closer & German Buck 5C collets by 16ths (new), steady and follow rests (new), Micrometer carriage stop, threading dial, quick change toolpost (yuasa). There is other smaller tooling included also. 3 phase 1.5 hp motor, Original Manual.
This is the opportunity that comes along rarely move fast if you are in the market for a excellent quality home shop size lathe. I am firm on a price of $3500. I can help you load a trailer. I am located in Groton, MA and lathe is in (now)unheated indoor storage in the Nashua, NH area. You can contact me at 978 448 9851 or reply by e-mail I would prefer to sell for pick and will ship as a last resort. You can see some pic's on craigslist (boston-forsale-tools) or
