What's she worth? Haas Super Mini Mill
I may be sending the lil girl down the road for something bigger and better. Basically bought it for one job and now I need something in the 20x40 travel range. Since then it's been my prototype and short run machine. It's an '08. Standard super mini. 10k spindle. 1000 ipm rapids. 10 tools. chip auger. No 4th pre-wire. VERY VERY CLEAN. Around a 1000(IIRC) spindle hours. Anyone out there have an idea of where to price it?
On edit: 1000hrs of cycle time. 700 hrs of spindle time. Built on 12/08. I put her in the shop 7/09.

I was thinking 35, but now that I just checked what's online, there's some 07's for right near 40K.
So maybe if you find have someone who "needs it right now " full retail.

I dunno what it is worth but it looks like a fine machine in excellent condition. Nice shop too. good luck with your sale. BTW, where did you get the molded acrylic ceiling cover on the machine or do they come that way. Looks like it would keep chips and coolant mist where it belongs. peace

New 40X60 shop.

Why not work a deal with your Haas HFO, trading the Mini in on a new VF-3?

I guess I should have said brands (plural). Mazak, Okuma, Mori, Hardinge.

I would be interested in this mill, but could not buy it until september as I am currently located outside of US.

I'm just getting together some numbers now to see if I can swing a purchase of a new mill and hopefully lathe in the fall or early winter. Cash will be tight since I'm building a new house and shop. Hopefully used machine values don't take a dive before then. Keep me in mind.

It's good, but not great. I've vastly out grown my shop as you can see in the pic. And my family has outgrown our small 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house(4 kids).

Those '07s at KD Capital?

Definitely consider service availability and at what cost if you are in a remote location when buying a new machine. The most guys in my area all have Haas because of local service techs. I can usually handle my own repairs, but when I had my machines moved I had a problem that stumped me. I ended up paying over $4,000 for a repair that would have probably cost less than $1,000 where I had come from. Combination of a long travel time and factory techs were not available here.

I know what you're talkin about Bob. Most of the major players in my area have fairly good service deptments: Haas, Mori, Doosan, Okuma, Matsura, and Hardinge. The only one I have heard complaints about was Mazak. Some shop owners in the area have all commented about their service over the yrs. Nothing too recent so maybe they have beefed up service since then(?).

Best of luck with the move, looks like a fantastic shop you already have. Where is your new shop going to be?

I know of a Haas mill and lathe that sold recently for new price that were 1.5 yrs old. The reasoning was that Haas is so far behind on orders that customers are willing to buy slightly used machines to get running. Maybe that is a good starting point on price for you. Also call Haas and ask for a quote and leadtime on the same machine. You basically have a new machine, with 1000hrs of testing.
Good luck,
Josh

see them on ebay for pushing 40K...my opinion they sit on there along time and who knows what/if they get sold. you can go on haas website and put a quote together there for around 45K new.... I'm in the market for one right now (for the right price), but no way i'd pay that much for that small of a machine. Rather buy older and bigger.

Before you get tied to the banker for the rest of your life, get a very thorough physical, and refigure all of you current figures. Can you park a camper in your back yard till the two oldest decide to leave? ;-)
It is hell when the payables out last the receivables. After the health and business are gone, the only thing that really matters is a good woman by your side, and kids that stop by to shoot the breeze.
Good luck with what you do.
Regards,
Bob
