    Default Labor Statistics from the Manufacturing Sector

    As reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the manufacturing sector experienced slight job growth from December 2010 to January 2011, with total employment levels rising from 11,568,000 to 11,617,000. Unemployment rate dropped in that timeframe from 10.0% to 9.9%. Within the manufacturing sector, the Bureau reported that machinists earned a median and mean annual salary of $37,800 and $39,060 in the year 2009.

    FWIW, the correct employment numbers are millions, not thousands.
