Manufacturing continued to grow for the 29th consecutive month in December; while the economy as a whole grew for the 31st consecutive month. The PMI registered 53.9 percent, an increase of 1.2 percentage points when compared to November's reading of 52.7 percent. A reading above 50 percent indicates that the manufacturing economy is generally expanding; below 50 percent indicates that it is generally contracting.
