[QUOTE=michiganbuck;3062603] .. it is not uncommon for a gas or diesel car to go 10 years and perhaps 150 k miles./QUOTE]

I think that estimate is actually low. Where I live there are still plenty of cars older than 10 years (some 20+) and a mechanic who used to work at a Honda dealer said they sold plenty of well maintained used cars with well over 100,000 miles on them. Generally the high mileage cars are newer with mostly highway miles and many of the older cars don't get driven much. I know one older woman whose car is at least 24 years old. She has a relative who maintains it and she only drives locally.

OOPS! Somehow in the process of editing my post I lost the original part.

Funny how righteous people get about "subsidies." Who paid for the interstate highway system ? It wasn't cheap and no, gas taxes don't even begin to cover the costs of the automobile.

Fact is, electric cars are kind of cool but we really should rethink the entire transportation system. But I'm lookin' for a lynching by saying that ...

QT: [ Who paid for the interstate highway system ? ]

Agree I helped pay for the highway system and also made use of it..

Interesting is that Illinois is making a toll road of so many roads.

Battery degradation seems an element in electric car range.. looks like a decrease after 2 and 3 years..and then another article suggests 300K battery life.
Must be some tom-foolery here as the reports vary so much...

Guess we should not be surprised.. the only way you can believe anything nowadays is to be there /own the test/see the real numbers and hope they are not rigged.

All Tesla’s come with an 8-year, transferable, unlimited warranty on the batteries and the drive train. It’s called the Infinite Mile Warranty. The catch is that “the loss of battery energy or power over time due to normal battery usage is not covered under this warranty.” So the question still remains, what can we expect for power?
