Thread: Large capacity Surface grinding

Any one in SoCal doing large part surface grinding?

I have 3 jobs to quote that will need a final surface grind operation.

Material is Aluminum 6061-T6

Part size is 14 inches square.

yeh for around here apparently!

Found one place that would quote it after looking around for a few days. There price was thru the roof so I no bid the job.

Risk vs. reward was not in alignment...

What about making the parts from cast aluminum tooling plate? It is not ground, but cast against a ground surface, and pretty flat from the get-go.

It would be hard to find someone to grind aluminum since there is no way to hold onto it.

Never heard of a vaccuum table??
