project Clark. In 4 years it maybe saw 4 hrs of use and sat outside and unused. Now with the new location I can put it to use. Time to show it some love Time to show it some love. In that time, it has always started, dead of winter

First thing I noted once up, fuel line has a nice near 90 deg kink. Ten bucks says it starts flooding once I fix this

Then a little further up someone used the exhaust pipe to bend the fuel line around a corner, wth?!

Mast bearings need work, should look like this

Got 2 that look like this, empty race with a few balls clanking around

Also I need to replace a solid hydro line in an impossible spot and some seals

Well that's a first for me! A Forklift on a lift! I saw those in your new shop thread and thought they looked pretty dumb. I guess I figured you were going to be lifting regular car/pickup type stuff with them. Now you show this and I get it.

It wouldn't be the first time I've had a dumb idea!
(Frankly I think they are getting more frequent)
Cars and trucks are also on the list along with trailers, tractors, crawlers, atvs and argo (hence the reason I went this route)

I like the idea, and I like that forklift.

But I don't know if I'm brave enough to do that with my Hyster. 35,000lbs of forklift over my head is a pretty scary idea....

Not trying to detract from the stands, but I think I'd rather have a pit.

This is the small set good for 52,000 pounds, the larger set is good for approximately 72,000 pounds for four units

Each unit has a scale built in so I can get an accurate weight and distribution of the weight

Pits have a place but I didn't want to deal with insurance issues if I ever had a claim/inspection for a home shop. I'm sure there's a bunch more regulations in regards to them also. I guess like most things in life, everything has a plus an a minus!
I had to chuckle with the 35,000 pounds over your head, probably 50 is enough to kill you if it drops, The extra 34,450 pounds is just insult to injury !

Well, got the worst of the leaks fixed, new battery, new carriage bearings, fuel line, greased, oil changed, weld repair to fork upright, and a broken toe from a minor mishap. Wife could not stop laughing. She said she has a "nervous" laugh. The cat would have been more help getting a bandaid.

I love the old Clark Rangers. I loaned one to a friend who scrapped it because he "needed" the money...without even asking. He is a Trump supporter. I have not owned a boob tube for 12 years and did not vote but I would give two thumbs up for the Rangers. I have a set of factory service manuals somewhere.

Nice! I had never seen one of these. Very handy for off road use or heavy loads on the lawn.

I've never met a prior owner of one, glad I liked them also! re: the trump thing, sad he scrapped a good machine irrespective of his voting.

Since I've never heard of a carry-deck forklift, it looks like somebody scrapped your counterweight. Maybe drop the shaper back there.

That is the way they are made. That deck is just a cover over the articulation covering hoses, shafts etc. if you look close you can see 2 plates. The top deck is just for light stuff(attached to the front),the plate below that is fixed to the rear. The 2 plates scissor over each other when turning

I have seen some without the deck when looking at old pics. I would guess it was cut off as it is present in my manual. The counterweight is just that structure in the rear, that is all the 6k model had. I'm not sure on the smaller 4K unit. It is a tough unit and a bit conservative on 6000lbs on 24" center

I've never seen one of those models. Odd placement of the engine and odd steering arrangement, I guess it works though.

Ok well I picked up some 6' fork extensions from the local scrapyard. 162lbsx0.40$
They need some work. Started cutting out the damage and will weld in patches. I am on the lookout for a fork boom pole too

Nice to have the Clark back and the extensions are great. Good to move the crawler out of the scrap pile. Time to pull off the pto from the parts machine and sell the rest

Clark info

Do you think you could help me with mine?
Recently purchased one of these and going through it fixing issues.
Air filter has been eaten by mice and has no identifying info, could you tell me what filter yours uses?
the Data plate on mine has been painted over and I'm trying to find a model number to search for a parts and or service manual. Thanks for any help you can provide.
