Default Calmotion USB for M+ control

Hello,

Has anyone out there tried a Calmotion USB system on an M+ control. We get by by using a 9999 main program calling up subprogram.
As you know, Mazak memory costs a fortune and this looks interesting.

How reliable is drip feed D.N.C. on these controls, I think that is what has to happen.

I would really not even want to remove the flash stick, I would be a little concerned about shorting something out over the long term if the device was running close to the Mistubishi gear.

I do not need the transportable part, we are setup with r.s.232.

Any input would be appreciated

Drip feed through the RS232 works fine as I remember way back then. Never thought to adapt to a USB since I've always had machines hooked to a DNC system. As for a flash or thumb drive, they're pretty robust these days. I wouldn't be too concerned about Mitsu. electronics trashing one.

If you are asking how well an M-Plus control can handle drip feeding, I can tell you that we've done it on ours with no trouble at all too. We've had a few programs too big and fed them in that way.

That was with a PC though, I don't know anything about the Calmotion stuff, but the Mazak end of it was fine.

I too have looked at this type of memory storage for older controls. Don't own one but would be interested in one if I knew for sure they worked really well, both on Mazaks and also a funky Fagor control. I know they say their universal and will save DNC setting for different machines but you never know until you "buy and take your chances hoping their tech support can figure it out".

Another option that may work for you is a DNC called Ezatrol for around $200.00. I use it on a T32 for program storage so I can't comment on its ability to drip feed. Their website is Ezatrol.com and if you have questions talk to Eric in tech support.

I did one time on a m32 it worked fine. But i was using Griffo Brothers camlink software it took me three days to figure it out and it was luck.
