Default Gear hobbing

We are currently hobbing on our Nexus Qt 100-MY with a fair amount of success, the issue we have is we cannot cut gears with 100+ teeth.
We get an error #809.
We have spoken with Mazak and they say that the parameter for polygon turning is set at 2 digits. Is there a workaround to increase this?
Any help would be appreciated
The line we use is:
G51.2 P1Q100<Q=number of teeth>
Thanks in advance.
Brian

Default Question

Just out of curiosity, how long is it taking you on your Nexus to cut the gears with ≤100 teeth?
Say, 99, or whatever closest to 100 that has worked for you!

Default Brian,

I know nothing about your control, but how about divide it up?

Cheers!

A 64DP gear .125 thick (.906 od)56teeth will hob in about 1 min 20.

Thanks for the reply
With polygon turning there is no way to resync the gear teeth.

The "P" value in the polygon line sets the ratio:
P1Q60<--would cut 60 teeth
P2Q60<--would cut 30 teeth
P3Q60<--would cut 20 teeth
P4Q60<--would cut 15 teeth

Sadly there isn't a way to double the ratio(P?Q60<--Would cut 120 teeth)

Your fonction is not Hobbing fontion ( G114.3)
but polygone machining (G51.2)
this fonction normally use for square , hexagonal form..

Command hobbing fonction now avalaible for Nexus and you could really hob real gear

I tried G114.3 and get error #936 (option not found)
Assume this is because hobbing is not turned on?

Yes , Hobbing is software option .
Contact your Mazak salesman to get information about it .
It's option number 11 " Hob machining" on your diagnos/info version/option screen

Thanks Froggy,
I spoke with the applications engineer at the Chicago Tech Center and he says because it is listed there doesn't mean the controller in the Nexus will accept the commands (Assuming G114.3?) This option is only for the Integrix machines, Is he correct?
