Thread: How to ged rid of this ~safety shield~?????

Morning, everyone.

Pls, who knows how can I get rid of this unhappy, absurd, useless, needless -safety shield on matrix machines !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The japanese don`t want to tell me, they`re so proud about it!
I didn`t ask for it when was about to buy the matrixes.
There shoud be some parameter for that.
It`s a stupidest thing on the new mazaks!

No Can Do! These safety shields are hard wired into the machine. This is to comply with new European safety Standards. This isn't focused on Mazak Machines, it runs the whole spectrum. Altering them in any way will more than likely casue your machine to function improperly. Furthermore, if a Mazak tech notices any tampering, he is required to report it in the service report, anf you will get a nasty letter from Mazak threatening to void your warranty, and relieveing themselves of any legal responsibility.

I found this on integrexmachinist.com. This is not something I have tried, but I thought I would pass on the info. I would use extreme caution with this.

Change bit 7 of paramater O91 to 0 to completely remove the safety shield function.

O91, that's "0" not zero, is an option parameter. Press Diagnostic/ then Version/ then far right side menu key. Type in 1131 input, you are now in privilged mode. Press far left Version key and you will see the 0 parameter page. Be careful here, these parameters tell the machine how many axis it has, how many spindles, how many MRJ2 drives, etc. Also, to all. I was reading this thread and it was mentioned more that once that it's a pain to cycle power after changing RB, RL, RS, etc parameters. The reason is these parameters interface directly with the PLC or ladder, and require to be stoped and restarted for them to be effective. Power off/on sequence is the easiast way to do this. Also, in Diagnostic page, at the top, where it says File/Edit/ Window/Help, you can pull down the window menu and click the Voice Advisor here. Rather than play with parameters, you can turn on and off here, change gender, and language as well.

USE EXTREME CAUTION!!!

Be sure to do a full backup of your parameters and ladder files before you mess with these parameters. The safety shield is handled by the ladder files, and you would need extensive knowledge of ladder editing to even find them. I do not recommend trying. I recommend you just do what we did. Make keys for the safety switches, and make them disappear when Mazak shows up.

think you can activate and or cancel with m123-m124
think that will remove the chuck barrier-subspil/tailstock

while setting up my qtn2 100m i hit the button on the position screen while in memory mode (cancel saftety)or something like that that way i can get as close to the chuck or tailstock i want without all those red errors flasching on my screen
