Matrix control problem

We have a Nexus 510c-II with a Matrix control. When you do a tool layout it asks for the tool pocket number. Is there a way to switch it to Tool Number instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tool numbers stay the same machine puts them in random pockets every tool change, you can specify it as a special tool and it will always put it in that pocket.

Why would you want to. You can define hundreds of stock tools and keep all the tool definitions saved along with the offsets for that tool number. Then you can pop tools from the pocket and move them from magazine tool to stock tool and load the new tools and definitions to the appropriate pockets. It's super fast and simple once you set it up. On an Integrex this is important becasue a single tool might be defiened 13 or 14 ways if its a flash tool.

We do a lot of short run jobs that require quick set-ups. Most of these jobs don't repeat and don't have standardized tooling.

I talked to mazak and they say that it cannot be changed.
