Mazak lathe tool eye problem

I am having problems with tool eyes getting stuck to the point of needing replacement. If I catch them in time I can free them up with solvent and WD40. At $700.00 a crack does anyone else have this problem? It is not the coolant causing the problem. It is what I am machining, fine nonmetal particles that are like concrete when the coolant dries. I know from taking apart a bad tool eye and seeing what is inside. The new one I packed around the four switches with silicone grease. We will see how that works.

You should replace the shaft seal on the front of the tool eye protector cup. And make sure the cup itself is centered around the aluminum tool eye base. The protector cup can be shifted slightly to ensure even contact between the shaft seal and the tool eye base.

When properly sealed, very little if any, coolant and such should get into the protector cup around the tool eye.

Also, an American company makes a replacement tool eye for around $400. I have seen them on Ebay before...
