Mazak M4 Fanuc 5T not working after move
Murphy's law right?
I bought a 1980 Mazak M4 CNC lathe with a Fanuc 5T control in good working order, carefully disassembled the control enough to move it seperate, moved the machine 20 miles, hooked it all back up and there are some obvious problems.
The spindle motor cooling fan operates with the main breaker on, when I power up the control the function display works, the digital readout displays work and I can jog the Y and Z axis around with the pendant control.
What does not work- The headstock pressure lube system does not work, the headstock gears will not change, I cannot start the spindle motor, the DC spindle controller has error lights on it inside the motor control cabinet and the phase rotation correct/incorrect light will not turn on regardless of phase rotation, the main hydraulic supply will not turn on.
Beyond phase rotation the only thing I have been able to verify myself is that the contactors for headstock lube and main hydraulic pump have power to them and If I manually actuate these contactors (with a screwdriver pushing the contacts together) these systems start and build pressure (so I should have phase rotation correct?).
I have what I believe to be the complete set of manuals for the machine and the 5T control, but I'm pretty out of my troubleshooting league for knowing where to start looking for problems.
If anybody is familiar with this machine and could give advice on what to check I would be very appreciative!
PS- I also have a 90% complete spare 5T control of similiar design for parts if needed.

Anyone with a simple suggestion of where to start, maybe things that have worked for you in the past? Maybe spritz the controller with the blood from a goat killed on a friday the 13th while dancing wildly about a fire made from old NC tape?

Sounds like an issue with your spindle drive. If it's not coming on-line, the drive faults will keep the hydraulics and other functions from working.
Check all screw terminal wire connections, as sometimes a wire can work loose during shipment.
Check all fuses, noting the spindle drive may have some behind it's covers.
Good luck!

Would be more than glad to help you out if you wanted to email a few of the prints.
What type of spindle drive is it?
