    hey guys,

i am using mazak cnc, what the difference between
the offset [x and z] found in tool data and the
wear offset to adjust the dimension of the part.
In our company sometimes they use the offset data, and sometimes they use wear offset.

    thancks a lot

if i understand your question correctly the offset table is the distance from home position, Z being the travel of the carriage and X being the travel of the cross slide, to the actual part geometry.

tool wear is comparable to cutter compensation and you adjust for the wear of the tool ,or the expansion of the machine, its usually the tool nose radius.

back in the old days when G92's were the offset du jour it was a real pain to adjust for wear/expansion much better now...jim

the x z offset is the tool position of tool.this shouldn't be adjusted as human error may cause a crash. the wear offset is the figure you should use to adjust for size.
