I have a Variaxis i-700 with Renishaw probing and inspection +. I have a casting with a flat cast surface. Is there a way that I can probe a number of points and the machine best fit a plane to the surface. Then I want to have the machine move the rotary table axes so this plane is perpendicular to the Z axis so I can face mill it.
As we all know, no flat cast surface is really very flat, but I'm trying to avoid thickness issues and remove a minimal amount of stock.
I know it's asking a lot, but this machine is amazing as it is, so why not dream.
