Hi Mazak guys,

I have a newly acquired QT15 that I am working on setting up my very first part on. What is the thread on the coolant connections on the tool holders? There are some tool holders that have the little eye that can be aimed. But I am need to make jumpers for getting coolant into my through coolant tools. Is this typically done with brass tubing or some sort of rubber hose?

As you can tell, I've never setup or run CNC lathe before. Jumping in head first.

Thanks,

-Jim

If this is a QT15 from late 80 or early 90 I guess you have:
BSP R1/4 on the turret.
For iner diameter tools you mount a block on the turret that has this coolant eye.
I have modified these on my QT10 to get internal cooling by the following steps.
1, remove the plug on the top
2, drill a 6mm hole through the hole with the plug into the big hole where the bar goes.
3, On the sleeves you use to mount the bars you grind a groove leadin to the backside of the bar.
4, create plugs that prevents coolant from exit on the backside.
5, plug the coolant eye with something.

I dont even think you understand my description so I will take some pictures later.
