Default QT15N hydraulic selenoid ?'s and Heat ?

Seems like our hydraulics are getting very warm what would be the root cause of this? I can say they are just above the temp you would allow to hold in your hand, is this common?

Also we have a random issue when we are changing tools the hydraulic selenoid makes REALLY nasty noises and it doesnt stop unless we move the turret manually or shut down the machine. It seems like it could be in mid shift like the magnet is trying to pull up but cant so it just keeps trying. What the scoup on that?

over the years i have had a couple qt8's that ran hot as hell from day 1
i attributed it to the chuck actuator which tended to be the hottest spot
i always figured that the "blow by" was excessive and was acting like a pressure relief valve that is having to crack too often.
never did figure out for sure but neither did they give any undo troubles that i could relate to hydraulic failure

switch the coils around a little bit (like from turret to tail stock or something) and see if problem follows coil or stays with valve
could also be a prox (like maybe "turret clamp") that's just barly out of adjustment so the hydraulics aren't going to there "neutral" state all the time

You think it may be the top part of the valve (coil)

I've had allot more coils fail on mazak hydraulics than the valve itself
you just loosen the tiny phillips screw and take the plug off
then the big nut and the coil is in your hand

i goggled nachi and several dealers popped
i used to have a name in Chicago but 2 weeks ago my work contacts blew away with the wind and I'm still trying to recover them

If you want to use a parker coil just call your local parker dealer with the valve number and tell them you want the coil for it. there are some numbers on the coil itself that will help them track down the right one.
