Default QT8 drive alarm X axis

I have a QT8 that yesterday started to throw up alarm 13 (drive alarm x axis). It is something to do with the x-axial servoamplifier thermal relay tripping oor a no fuse curcuit breakerhas opened. I shut the machine down and let it cool down for an hour. When i fired it back up it ran for a half hour then the same alarm.

I looked for a tripped breaker, but saw nothing. My small amount of knowledge says if it was a breaker it would not have reset itself. My question is where should I look next?

I am in a time bind on a job and need to get this going quickly. Any help is appreciated.

The Mitsubishi servo amps are known to eventually fail on the older Mazaks. Mits gets about $1500 to rebuild a drive.

Try running the machine at reduced rapids....

Cnctoolcat, I did turn the rapid down to 10 percent to get it to stay on long enough to finish the four piece run I was working on. The servo amp is this on the board or the motor? I have a repairman coming in first thing Monday and it would help to maybe narrow it down for him. Thanks for your help.

The servo amp is inside the electrical cabinet located at the rear of the machine. Some Mazaks had both the X and Z combined into 1 drive, while others had 2 separate drives.

The servo drive(s) will have a part # starting with MR-....

The drives have LED's that light in certain order, to help pinpoint the exact nature of the problem. Mitsubishi Electric Automation in Chicago and New Jersey can help you and your tech over the phone.

    Good luck!
