spindle orient alarm Need help!
I have a vtc20 with mazatrol M plus control. We just wired the machine up and were trying to get it going. When you try to do a spindle orient I get this alarm 281 no spdl orient (special tool)
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

Nevermind we got it.
Did you have to: MDI/T0/Input/Cycle start?
*If not, what was your fix?
**If you tell us, maybe some time in the future it will come in handy, shall someone else run into the same problem!
By the way, you got yourself a nice little VTC Machining Center There
Nice compact small work envelope, fast too!
>I worked on one of those, it had the 4th axis to the left side if you're standing in front of it, I always forgot to Home out the 4th axis, both @ start up and shift's end,

I have been looking for a small CNC mill but I'm really limited by the height as it needs to fit thru a standard 7' door opening. Would really like to have a Mazak thou.

Thanks for the replies. Its not my personal machine (wish it was) Im a supervisor in a machine shop. We jut got a few mazaks in this week and its been about 6 years since I've run a mazak. Everything else we have at work is okuma, mori seiki, haas, deawoo, anyway back to the original question. It was just one of those mysteries. we shut the machine down and brought it back up and it worked sorry thats no help to anyone.

Control might have been latched to think there was a Probe in the spindle which would keep you from orienting (Ladder latch, you don't necessarily see it on the display). Strange things happen sometimes (well, maybe more than sometimes)... Cycling the power will sometimes release it when the system is refreshed... other times it can make things worse...

I think your right about the probe. That was the last tool in the spindle before it was powered down and moved into our shop.

Spindle zero orientation off
Hi, We do have a Fh5800 Mazak. Just now We faced one problem mentioning 'spindle zero orientation off'. How can I come over? why this problem occured? before orientation, the tool was unclamped and indexed, any guidelines?

Spindle Orient
If the probe is in the spindle, you have to tell the controller that it is a rotating tool, then do a spindle orient, and do your tool change. I could tell you in more detail, but i'm not infront of the machine right now, but i just had this happen to me a couple weeks ago, it was an easy fix after talking to the tech. over the phone.

... Or, tell it you have T0 in the spindle, orient, change T number back to probe on move on.... leave Tool Data alone (I've had guys "accidently delete tools or change something else along with the description)... A hundred ways to skin a cat huh?... well, at least 2 anyways....
