    Default Value of a QTN100?

One of the local used machine distributors has been watching out for another Mazak QT-8 for me and he just got a 2005 QTN100 in and sent me the specs. He claims its in excellent condition and since its in the size range I'm looking for I thought I would look into it.

Does the Nexus series come with a USB port or some type of file transfer system as opposed to DNC?

Will the programs generated for a T32B work in the 640 or is it just too old of technology?

Anything concerns or major problems common with QTN 100's Is the price quoted resonable for this machine?

That's a pretty nice machine. I think the price is a bit high on it though. Thats just my opinion. Just depends on what you want and are willing to spend. There is an older, not as nice QT8 in ebay for about 13K.

I forgot to add he claims it has less than 1,000 power on 600 cutting hours.

Well it certainly looks the part captdave, looks brand spanking new. I'm a big fan of Mazak turning centers, I have 4 of them going on 13 years old. We run them non stop, many different material and being honest... they have taken a hell of a beating and are still going very strong.

I'm not exactly certain of what a machine this year/size is worth, but its probably not that far off if you have the right jobs for it.

I would say that's a little high for an '05.

A new QTN100 can be had for around $75k I think....

The T32 programs should work in the 640T control. You may have to do an edit or two??

The 640 control has a hard drive for program storage, so I would assume communications is straightforward.

We "toyed" with trading ours in to get a live tooling or mill/turn lathe a few months back.
If I recall correctly, the dealer gave us a value of $20K for our QT100.

It's in GREAT shape, with the only real wear in evidence
being some paint flaking due years of use and exposure to coolant.

As a side note, I really, really like that machine.
For a smaller envelope, standard turning center (no live tooling, etc...) I think it just simply rocks.

I would not hesitate to own one if I could afford it at the time.

    Default fusion t characteristics

external data goes through a 1.44 floppy disk drive standard. optional is ethernet or pcmcia card - which may be obsolete by now, it's 1999 technology.

no usb standard, but if you're good with pc's there's a possibility you could make one work, as teh computer guts is similar to a windows 95/98/2000 laptop, depending on vintage.

t32 programs will not go directly into it. t+ programs will. Mazak corporation policy is backward compatible one control generation.

if you have griffo or mazacam they have control generational translators to make t32 to fusion t possible.

    Default Qt8

    Hello,

If you are interested I have the QT8, T+ control, on e-bay. The price is a little high but I put way too much into it. It is one of the very few with a T+ control but i am not in a real hurry to sell it, it is still in work and running well. I upgraded to a SQT100 MSY with a Fusion control, yes, it is a full on Windows 95 computer with a hard drive but I do not leave anything on it, we rs232 everything. It dose have a PCMCIA port but that is aleady an obsolete device.
Sometimes I am a litte to lazy and a little pressed for time to setup the subspindle when I have the QT8 sitting next to it, I should really get rid of it, long term, labor costs will kill all of us!

    Good luck!

    Default Video!

    CaptDave,

Here is an old video of my SQT100MSY, I think most of it is the same as the one you are talking about, this is a 2003. These were built in Japan though.
