Default Mitutoyo Scale repair?

I have an old 6 pin Mitutoyo scale on a mill I recently picked up that does not read. I tried to swap counters and all I get is the 00.000 as from power up. My Sony and Anilam give me error messages but I am not sure whats going on with this. Do any of our members repair Mitutoyo scales? Should I try to take it apart and clean it myself or is that taboo? Thanks Earl.

At this point you have nothing to loose. If your pin connector comes apart you might want to start there looking for loose or broken wires. The connectors usually go bad before the scales. -Mike

Thanks Mike, My connector does not come apart but if I have nothing to loose I will try to find another connector or possibly a broken scale that I can salvage parts from. Earl.
