Default scleroscope and shipping?

Any one know anything about them?
I bought one and the bloke advises me he wouldn't have it shipped, says it is doubtful it would arrive in one piece. Looking at instructions for them it looks like the hammer in the glass tube might well be the risky bit to send. Is it easy to remove the hammer, so the tube won't get damaged?

In the ones I've seen, the ball or hammer can be removed. I suspect that if the whole thing were carefully foam packed it would ship fine (the OEM probably didn't hand carry them to customers ). That said, I can understand the seller's reluctance to take responsibility. And, if you take responsibility, who's to say it will be well packed?

Perhaps there's a professional packing company that could take this on. Here in the US, one would hope that if a "UPS store" did the packing that UPS would honor shipping insurance.

I own a Shore Scleroscope. Yes it can be completely dismantled for shipping. The glass tube could be put in a plastic pipe to protect it. Go to search for the one I posted.

I took a look at the pics, it's lovely, it's a thing of beauty.
I have emailed the seller and will see if he's willing to remove the tube and pack it.
