I am beginning the process of retrofitting a servo CNC control to a 24" Mahr CX-1 height stand. The intention is to use the servo controller to drive the carriage, reading the output of an LVDT gauge head touch probe. The controller will be LinuxCNC based. The full mechanical and electronic details are not yet finalized but my intention is to replicate the original measurement capabilities of this type machine.
I would be interested in input on any additional measurement features you have used / desired in this type machine. All the basics are illustrated in the picture above e.g. 'contact from below (plane)', 'contact from above (determine reversal point)', 'Min-Max (linear function)' etc.
