concentrcity with indicator

hey guys, quick question when I check concentrcity with a concentrictiy gauge and a indicator I always thought you go by total indicator run out, like +.001 to -.001 eqauls .002 is this right my inspector says you take half the number meaning that it is really out by .001?

If the specification is .002" TIR (total indicator reading) then yes you are correct.

You're correct. It's the spread of the error, i.e. max reading - min reading.

Sorry guys, the inspector is correct.
TIR is basically a Radial measurement to control form whereas Concentricity is used to control position and diametrical in nature hence, half the TIR is as close to understanding this as you can.
