I am looking for manuals and probe compatability for the following Federal gage amps.
I have:
EAS-1391 with a EAS-1060 (plunger) probe, it has the following ranges: .004 .0002 .0001
and
EAS-1391 / V-1366-1 with ranges: .020 .010 .004, this amp does not include any probes.
I'd like to know which probes are compatible with these amplifiers and in particular would like to find a DTI style probe for the V-1366-1 model amplifier.

Manuals whould be greatly appreciated.

I have a copy of a Federal Instruction Manual which includes "230" series, "232" series single input and "232" series dual input. Publication number A-868 11174. It includes the EAS-1391.

It does not include EAS-1391 / V-1366-1. Most of the Federal V series number I have seen over the years seem to me to indicate some sort of special version (i.e. extended range, etc.) There must have also been a special EHE / EGH series gage head to go along with it.

The lever type gage heads listed are:
EHE-1048
EHE-1050
EHE-1052
EHE-1056

The reed spring gage heads are:
EHE-1049
EHE-1053
EGH-11
EGH-6

The cartridge gage heads are:
EHE-1060
EHE-1061
EHE-1063
EHE-1064

The manual also has corresponding numbers for earlier cartridge type gage heads are shown below:
EHE-1060 (previous model EHE-1054)
EHE-1061 (previous model EHE-1044)
EHE-1063 (previous model EHE-1055)
EHE-1064 (previous model EHE-1062(was EHE-1045)

The manual doesn't indicate whether these previous models are compatible with the gaging amplifiers contained therein.

You may have some difficulty replacing the old 5.4V mercury cell battery pack.
"The mercury cell reaches its operating plateau very soon after being placed in operation and, therefore, produces a uniform voltage throughout its life, having little, if any effect on magnification. Shelf life of mercury cells is in excess of 4 years."

A battery eliminator (optional) fits in the battery compartment and allows the unit to operate from 117 volts, 60 Hz."

"NOTE: When carbon cells are used a 100 ohm series dropping resistor should be used in the battery circuit."

Federal Change Notice December 2, 1974 "Multi-Choice Electronic Gaging Catalog 69E (A-870 20469) indicates the following systems which contained a EAS-1391 amplifier:

230P-201 w/ EHE-1048 gage head and EAS-1391 amplifier
230P-207 w/ EHE-1057 gage head and EAS-1391 amplifier
230P-209 w/ EHE-1060 gage head and EAS-1391 amplifier
700B-2 w/ EGH-6 gage head and EAS-1391 amplifier

Federal price list for catalog 69E (effective Date January 19, 1976) indicates the EAS-1391 (replaces EAS-1234 & EAS-1236).

If you have any questions, please let me know.

By the way, I have sold a fair number of Federal 230 and 432 series gaging amplifiers on ebay over the last year.
