I intended to buy just a little Brown & Sharpe BesTest indicator from a guy tonight and ended up buying everything he had.

I couldn't pass up a beautiful Mitutoyo 511-212 bore gauge for $10, even though I don't know how to use it.

I can find no manual on line.

How do I use it?

Thanks,

Jon

Ring gage blocks to whatever size you need for inspecting, and then stick out a block on either side of the stack so the measuring contacts of the bore gage can touch. Clamp in a vice or c-clamp, and set zero on the bore gage. We use them all the time in our shop with great success. It's a good way to measure "out-of-round" as well, that an intrimic can't detect.

Thanks, Eric. The manuals you linked to had the information I wanted.

I went to Mitutoyo's web site and searched for 511-212, which did not lead me to a manual. Then I tried the Support link, which also did not lead me to a manual.

But when I tried the link in your post, I found the User Manuals.

I looked at http: // www.mitutoyo.com / support / product-support /

Your link took me to http: // www.mitutoyo.co.jp / eng / support / service / manual / index.html

I wonder how you ended up at "www.mitutoyo.co.jp" instead of http: // www.mitutoyo.com, as I did from my Google search for Mitutoyo.
