Hello All,

Ran across this gage in a youtube video (Nick Mueller's scraping video) and was wondering what type of gage this is? I've seen the dial indicators for diameters from Starrett, etc. but they do not appear to be quite the same as the one in the attached picture. What's the correct name for this?

Thanks in advance.

The dial indicator itself is commonly called a Dial Test Indicator (DTI), horizontal type.

Or were you asking about the whole gage rig?

I haven't watched the video so . . .

I can say that there is much information on PM about scraping and, from what I've read, many ways to skin the cat.
Most of the scrapers I've read about seem to build their own gage rigs to suite their own set of constraints (knowledge, precision, budget, time, application).

I'd expect (hope) that the name of the tooling would be descriptive of it's intended purpose.

IIRC Nick says in one video, maybe not that one, that he built the gauge specifically for measuring over dovetails. He highlights the different adjustments built into it for height, width, stops etc.
