Mitutoyo height gauge dead

So I bought this used digital height gauge. Used it for a while and suddenly it wouldn't turn on, dead.

I replaced the battery, nothing. Called Mitutoyo and they said that spares wasn't available for this discontinued item.

Any tips on how to bring this back to life?

No help on the height gauge, but just curious. Is that DeWalt in the first picture for truing up the surface plate it's sitting on?

one of my beefs with mitutoyo, if you have something they consider obsolete, and it breaks, you're SOL.

You've got yourself a nice transfer stand.
