Starrett Hardness tester

We have had a Phase II POS for several years and its not always repeatable, poorly made and I want to replace it. Looking at used / refurbished Wilson or Clark in the $4,200. - $5,400. range from meteorology houses. Don't want to go the Ebay route. I have also found new Starrett model 3814 for $2,300. on Amazon. Anyone have one? We will use it regularly and want a good quality unit.

I would look into a used machine and send it in repair/calibration. Used machines are available between $500 and $1000 on Ebay.

Update. Got the Starrett unit in, it works well, repeats, should do what we need. Not quite the usuall Starret quality I'm used to, but for our use, it should be fine.
