Hi All
I have a 1921 Monarch Model B lathe that I need information about.
I contacted Monarch, that's where I received the date information from (Thanks Steve Andrews at Monarch).
Does anyone know what the Spindle Thread size is for this lathe ?
Its bigger then 2 1/4, it looks like 2 3/8 - 6 to me, but I'm not sure.
Thanks for the help !!!!

From my records it should have 2.75x6 Male Threads on the Spindle nose and a #4MT

Sorry it took me so long to find my spread sheet that lists all this.

John

This will confirm what Mr. Legge had to say, though shows 5MT in spindle bore

Thank You John for the information
This is a big help
Steve

You are entirely welcome. Like lots of old larger lathes, back plates will need to be made to fit what you have, not bought. :D

"Finding" any 2 3/4 - 6 for sale will not be easy I expect - nor are they likely to be an exact match for what Monarch used

L&S a bit over 100 years ago liked 2 5/8 - 6 and 3 - 6 for their 18 and 20" lathes, but they look nothing like the Monarch - having a short thread and larger pilot diameter behind.

That sound more like it for 18" or 20" lathe. I got my info form a Monarch Catalog, and thought his sounded small. I wonder if this changed over time.
