Identification of a monarch AA lathe

I have helped a friend drag home a Monarch lathe S/N AA4060 I am wondering what kind of information might be available for it date of manufacture, manuals ect.....

4060 about '33 or '34

I have a Monarch AA also. Your friends should have roller bearings in the headstock instead of the earlier plain bearings like mine.

Here is a link to the thread on mine. I haven't posted anything for a while, but I'm on reassembly of the lathe now, hopefully I turned the corner.

Hi I’m new to this forum, I have a monarch AA lathe, does anyone know if there is a reverse lever to be able to do left-handed threads?

I am pretty sure you must reverse the motor to reverse the spindle

I looked at the manual that was posted and there is a lead-screw reverse lever for left-handed threads.

See the lever at extreme left?

Probably reverses feed and threads

Date of manufacture should be stamped on the flat between the front Vee and tailstock way at the tailstock end. I know the inspector stamps his initials and serial number for sure.

I would guess that serial number would be early 1930's maybe. It is pretty low. Monarch started serial numbers in 1927 starting at 1000
