I am not a machinist. I have no reason to own a lathe. I don't even have three phase power.
That is my wife talking. She is right. But, I already have this 1951 monarch 10EE in the garage. I admit that I am a rank amiture and I should have started with a smaller machine. However, I found this girl for a song and happend to have the means to get it home. Now that I have done my research I realize that that I have a number of challenges to overcome.
First- get the manual and learn all I can.
Second- change the 20? Year old fluids and belts.
Third- make a 10hp RFV and power her up.
Fourth- find a local machinist willing to teach and start making chips.
Now, I intend to document this process here and welcome any experience and knowledge you can provide.
I know that a post without pictures is like reading the articles in a playboy so I will attempt to upload a few. (New to this forum and not really a computer guy)
Thanks in advance.
