What's this part?

I tried looking inside my manual and online but I can't seem to find out what this part is.
I placed it behind the tailstock. If I had to guess it looks like something that goes to the tapaer attachment but I have no clue.. Anyone knows what it is?

That is a base casting for a chuck guard, there is another casting that pivots in the bore and holds the actual guard.

Dimensions for a chuck guard mount

I have a friend that has a foundry and I thought I would try my hand at reproducing the base (and possibly the mount) for the chuck guard. Is there any interest in making a CAD drawing of this mount (member, ears, and hole location)? Possibly the guard itself too?

If you are available to send dimensions, please . I thought I could make a wood model and sand cast the parts. Probably more work than the $400 on the internet, but a lot more satisfying and I get to learn something.
