Default Friction brake motor assembly question

I acquired a friction brake motor for an automation project I am working on, and would like to confirm proper installation before going ahead and making parts, etc.

I believe I attach the wired component to something fixed, the middle round to the shaft (with keyway) and mount the smaller permanent magnet round on another fixed component as close to the middle round as possible with out actually touching.

I am new to brake motors, and while this seems like a reasonably common product - frequently called electromagnetic friction brake motors - I can't seem to find adequate schematics or images of these installed on shafts to confirm this supposition.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You have an electromagnetic clutch, not a brake. This video provides a good explanation of its operation:
