I'm following up on an old thread (http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/robots-and-automation/hard-starting-120-vac-motor-315006/) that I really need to do something about but enough of the subject has changed that I'm starting a new thread. In this other thread, folks recommended a Teco and I'm looking at the L510 series since it replaces a discontinued model. Overall it looks pretty straightforward but I'm a bit confused on the motor requirements. I know I need a 3 phase motor but what should the voltage be if 115 is supplied to the Teco, should it be 208?

I did look through enough of the documentation that it looks like integration is easy enough. We will have a PLC control the on/off of the motor but I'm guessing we can program the start recipe through the Teco?

Thanks,
The Dude

The 120 vac input inverters work with standard 240/480 volt motors. VFDs don't just vary the frequency they also the voltage and current to match the load.
